Bluff Twin
Design Concept
The design is a simple gesture that makes a connection between significant sites of the Pueblo people in Bluff, and the landscape. Inspired by ancient roads that cut through the desert along straight axis, we selected two axis from a point on the project site. The first axis points towards the Bluff Great House, and the second axis points towards Choco Canyon. We then formed a wall along the two axis in order to make a visual connection between the sites.
The wall, which is was also inspired by the architectural ruins of the Ancestral Puebloans, has a single opening that frames the views of the Twin Rocks and the Double Eyes, from vantage points on either side of the wall, where concrete block benches are placed for the viewers.
